*Spoilers*
Slasher : Guilty Party (2017) is the second season of the Slasher anthology series, available on Netflix. Being an avid horror fan, when I came across the horror series, I was extremely excited. I attempted to watch the first season and was mind blown by how terrible it was. I couldn't even get through the episodes. However, because I wanted to review the programme, I went back a year later and forced myself through the whole season, and found it genuinely unbearable.
I disliked the show so much, I wanted to read about other people disliking it. When I looked up reviews, I found a few comments saying it's a shame the first season was so terrible because the programme really improves throughout the seasons. This forced me to go back to the series, and try season two.

I can say that there is a significant improvement in this series. In comparison, I actually watched this programme in a matter of days, rather than forcing myself over a span of two years to endure the programme, as I had with Slasher : The Executioner.
A group of old friends return to a retreat, close to Camp Motega, were five years prior they had murdered a fellow camp councillor in cold blood.

I have plenty of critical comments to make about this programme, so I'll start with something a little positive. I liked that the victim, Talvinder, was a questionable character. It was interesting that the victim wasn't some angelic person who died accidentally. It allowed us as viewers to form an opinion on her, and give her a verdict of innocent or guilty.
My favourite character was Antoine, I loved the scene when he defended himself in the street against the homophobe, I'm sad we didn't see more of him.
Glenn's episode was the most entertaining and in depth, but it was also very gory and traumatising. It hit a lot deeper than I expected it to, and gave me more American Horror Story vibes than what I expected from this programme.
I also found some of the deaths to be really creative, and made the show more interesting.

However, a lot of the acting was poor, plenty of open mouths and arched eyebrows to show any form of emotion. Dawn, portrayed by Paula Brancati, did this a lot. It made the show a little frustrating to watch.
I didn't like the amount of unnecessary deaths, I prefer some kind of purpose rather than the excuse of 'they got in the way'. Some of the characters that were killed off first were some of the most interesting and likable. I prefer a reason for everything, and the order in which they were killed didn't make sense. I would find it a lot more creepy and methodical in a different order. As well as this, some of the most important characters had the most insignificant deaths. One of the characters was killed off so suddenly and in such a boring way, I thought their character deserved a much more memorable death.

The killer ended up murdering an array of innocent people. The excuse for the revenge on the group of campers was because they killed off an innocent girl... then went and killed a load of innocent people themselves. It just made me think the killer was pathetic and annoying, rather than scary and skilled.
Leaving the most irritating part till last. Dissociative identity disorder again!? How many horrors now have to include this disorder as some kind of horror trope. I'm bored. Do better. The programme gave an awful representation of the disorder, making them talk aloud to each other swapping 'personalities'. It's 2022, Psycho came out in 1960. Come up with something more interesting and creative, and perhaps something less damaging and stigmatising to people suffering from a disorder.

I am still unsure whether I can handle the torment of watching another season of this terrible programme, but we shall see.
